Dear Lorene,

It is a red letter day for me for I have kept the vow I made two years ago — I have completed “The McClintock Piano Course!” It has taken longer than I thought it would and there have been times that I felt discouraged because of not getting to practice as much as I would have liked, but I was always reminded, “There’s no hurry! Enjoy the journey!” And this I have surely done. It has indeed been, as you promised, “A New Experience in Learning” and it has been a great “Adventure” as well!

Of course I will begin at the beginning and go through it again for there is far too much to fully grasp in just one run-through. The principles I learned can be used to play all kinds of music so I intend to obtain some of the classical and popular selections I have longed to play through the years and get to work on them! Those added lines above and below the staff are no longer a mystery! The way you teach us to identify them on the music and play them on the piano is simplicity itself!

As the lessons became more difficult I had a lot of misgivings about whether I could learn to play music which appeared so intimidating but there was no cause to worry! By following your extremely clear step by step instructions, only time and patience were required to master them. When I looked at Bach’s Prelude in C Major my courage almost failed, but after I analyzed it in the manner you suggested it was incredibly simple to play! And what a thrill!

Of course the most difficult selection for me was Chopin’s Prelude in C Minor and I must admit that I’ll be practicing that one for quite a while! I was truly amazed at the skillful way you used this last selection to illustrate so many principles embodied in the Course. In fact, one of the things I found so unique and helpful was the way each musical selection was designed to illustrate, in a specific and effective way the principle being explained in the theory section. The familiar tunes were fun but I particularly enjoyed your original compositions.

Lorene, thank you — from the bottom of my heart — for this Piano Course. Not only have I learned techniques which are so necessary but, more importantly, I feel that I have been totally immersed in the experience of MUSIC in the largest sense of that word. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable journey and I am grateful!

With Love,
